ENV-01 Sustainable Transportation Fuel & Vehicle Technologies: Low-Carbon Solutions
CreditsThis course grants 1.2 CEUs and 12 AICP CM credits. (AICP credits pending approval)
DescriptionThis new online course is intended to introduce practitioners to the fundamentals of lower-carbon vehicle and fuel/energy systems--low-carbon solutions for a growing world. The transportation sector in the U.S. accounts for approximately 30% of national greenhouse gas emissions, and even more in California. The U.S. uses approximately 25% of the petroleum used in the world but only has about 5% of the world's population. Transportation technologies and strategies are emerging that can help to meet climate and energy security challenges.
- key technical principles that apply to Alternative Fuel Vehicle systems
- emerging light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle technologies
- fuel production supply-chain pathways and fuel-cycle emissions analysis
- economic and policy aspects of the introduction of advanced vehicle and energy technologies
What you will learnAttendees will gain a better understanding of: 1) the latest clean fuel vehicle and fuel system technologies; 2) major components and aspects of energy/environmental transportation problems; 3) recent transportation and energy/environmental policy and planning; and 4) how to apply energy principles to transportation vehicle/fuel supply problems and analysis.
Who should attendThis class is designed for transportation planners, vehicle fleet managers, mid-career professionals, safety personnel, and officials from regional and state agencies in the U.S., as well as international practitioners.
