This class is offered in partnership with the California Department of Transportation, Division of Local Assistance. Registration fees are subsidized with funding from the Cooperative Training Assistance Program. DescriptionThis introductory course covers the essential operational functions of traffic signals and components, starting with basic design plans and diagrams, general rules, and specifications. Participants will learn about signal cabinets and components and how they function, traffic signal detection and calibration, wiring, power, and basic diagnostic skills. What You Will LearnStudents learn how to interpret traffic signals plans, diagnose malfunctioned signals, make better infrastructure decisions, and reduce the risk to your agency related to malfunctioned traffic signals.
Who Should AttendThe class is for traffic engineers, electrical contractors, and technicians who are new to traffic signal timing. Experienced practitioners who desire a "refresher" course also benefit. Advanced practitioners with significant experience may not be appropriate for this basic course.
