DescriptionThis course presents information regarding asphalt mix components and their relation to performance, and takes participants through the asphalt mix design methodologies used by the State and local agencies in California. The course covers both Hveem and Superpave mix designs, as well as open-graded mix design. This is the primary overview course on Asphalt Concrete Materials & Mix Design in the training certificate program offered by the City and County Pavement Improvement Center (CCPIC) in partnership with TechTransfer.

Who Should AttendThis course is designed for engineers, state local agencies, consultants, contractors, maintenance supervisors, and quality control/assurance supervisors responsible for designing asphalt mixtures, material specifications, and quality control/quality assurance management of asphalt mixtures.

Cancellation fee is $75. There are no refunds for classes with registration fees of $75 or less. For all other classes, you may cancel your enrollment and receive a refund of your registration fee less $75, provided we receive your written request to cancel at least 5 full working days before the class is scheduled to begin.
In lieu of canceling your registration, you have three additional options, you may (1) transfer your registration to another class, (2) receive a tuition credit for the full amount, useable toward a future class, or (3) send a substitute in your place. Please contact us at least 5 full working days before the class is scheduled to begin so we may process your request.
We recommend you discuss any possible problems or online security issues with your IT person before you register for any online classes. If you are worried about connectivity issues, please contact the online training coordinator the week before the class to schedule a time to test your system. If you do not test your system and you have technical issues during a live online class, we will not provide a refund.

This is a live online course. All times for the online lecture are in (California) Pacific Time. Approximately one week before the course start date, all paid students will receive detailed instructions on how to access the web-based lecture and course site. You will also receive instructions on how to access the student course notebook.

Brandon MilarPE, Technical Director, California Asphalt Pavement Association
Mr. Milar is a licensed Civil Engineer in California that currently serves as the Director of Technical Services for the California Asphalt Pavement Association. Mr. Milar received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. He works with the asphalt pavement industry and various specifying agencies on the development of asphalt pavement standards, the training of technical personnel, and the research of new pavement technologies. For over 25 years, Mr. Milar has provided technical support for the production of aggregates, the design and testing of asphalt mixes, the construction of asphalt pavements and the implementation of innovative pavement technologies.
