Joseph Kott PhD, AICP, PTP, Principal, Transportation Choices for Sustainable Communities

Dr. Kott has over thirty-five years experience in transportation planning, including as Chief Transportation Official for the City of Palo Alto. He has a B.A. from Wayne State University, master's degrees in urban and regional planning from the University of North Carolina, in both transport planning and traffic engineering from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and a PhD in urban and regional transport planning from Curtin University in Perth, Australia. Dr. Kott is a lecturer in transportation planning, urban planning, and transportation management at San Jose State University and is a Research Associate for the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State. He has co-presented webinars on transit-oriented development and bus rapid transit, workshops on complete streets, and a study of transportation safety on tribal lands and rancherias in California for the UC Berkeley, Institute of Transportation Studies, Technology Transfer program. Dr. Kott holds certifications in both urban planning (AICP) and as a professional transportation planner (PTP) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).

Michael Kodama Executive Director, Eco-Rapid Transit

Mr. Kodama is the Executive Director for Eco-Rapid Transit, a joint powers authority with 13 members, including 12 cities and Bob Hope Airport. He is also an Adjunct Professor teaching transportation planning at the University of Southern California and has his own consulting practice. Mr. Kodama is leading the effort to develop a new rail transit line in Southeast Los Angeles County that would serve over 70,000 riders per day along a 20-mile alignment. He recently led efforts to develop a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Corridor Guidebook. He has over 25 years of professional transportation planning experience and has been involved in TOD and parking management throughout the country. Mr. Kodama has a M.A. in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.
